I know there are a lot of people out there who are unsure what the best choice is for their loved ones in their golden years. There are times when you might think a nursing home is the only option, but it isn't. Visiting Angels offers wonderful New Jersey elder care. I can honestly say that my grandmother was in a nursing home, and while not all nursing homes are the same, I wish she never had to be there. It was very depressing to walk in and see so many people sitting alone and wondering when their family was coming to visit them. It broke my heart when I was extremely busy and could not get to the nursing home to visit my grandmother. I knew she was sitting there alone, waiting for someone to come visit.
My grandmother had a stroke and was unable to move the left side of her body. She needed constant care that we, as her family, could not provide. We all needed to work and we could not care for her at home the way she needed. Having to leave her home to get the proper care was devastating for her, but she knew she needed more than we could provide.
There are always going to be choices that need to be made for the care of your loved ones. Everyone has different medical issues and needs. If there is no medical reason that your loved one cannot stay in their own home, please consider an alternative to a nursing home. Unfortunately, my grandmother did not have a choice due to her condition. Please keep home care in mind when discussing the needs of your loved ones.
