Our lunch at Ally's on The Lake

The other day Paul and I visited Ally's on The Lake in Lake Anna VA for lunch.  When we arrived I met with one of the owners, Ally. She sat with us and chatted at the bar a bit, explaining how she operates her establishment and items that she recommended (although she said that it was all good). I started off asking her which drink she would recommend, to which she replied "A day at the lake". She made one for each of us, and it was amazing! I do not like anything that is too strong, where all I can taste is the liquor, this was perfect.

When it came to decide what we wanted for lunch, Ally seated us in the dining room where we met our waitress to order. At Ally's you can either sit inside or outside looking out at the lake, but this was a hot day so we opted for inside. I ordered the french onion soup to start:

.

I'm hungry just looking at this photo! It tasted really good. Ally explained to me that her son is the chef and cooks everything there. Let me tell you, this soup was great. It was just hot enough, with the right amount of gooey cheese that everyone waits for when they order french onion soup, that's my favorite!
Onto the entree! I ordered a chicken ceasar salad with ranch dressing instead of ceasar. They were more than happy to accommodate that.

Paul ordered a hamburger and sweet potato fries to which he said was amazing:

Ally also offered us some jello shots which she had made herself in a few flavors. The service was nice, as well as the atmosphere and they also offer live bands at times. If you are looking for a family friendly environment on the water, or just a place to grab a bite before fishing, stop by Ally's on The Lake.
