Top Tips that will Easily Make Your Home Look Bigger

Living in a small home isn’t easy. After all, you have to really be space considerate and you also have to
think about how you are going to store everything without making your space look cluttered as well. On
top of this, the last thing you need when you enter a room is to have it feel cramped and small, but
there are a couple of hints and tips that you can utilise to prevent this from happening.

Flooring

Flooring designs often serve as a way to define spaces. One thing that a lot of people don’t know is that
they can actually be used to make a room feel way bigger as well. If you want to have some timber
floorboards installed for example then it’s a good idea for you to opt for a wider plank as this will
create the illusion of space. If you have tiles, opt for ones that have a larger format. A good rule of
thumb is that the fewer grout lines you have, the bigger your room will feel overall. If you do want to
get some new flooring installed then Carpet One vinyl planks are a great option.

Walls

It is a well-known fact that paler shades and colours are ideal at making a room feel much bigger and
much brighter. Light coloured walls tend to be way more reflective when compared to dull, dark walls
and the best thing about them is that they are able to bounce the light around a room as well. When it
comes to your flooring choice, it helps to have a low contrast between the surfaces that you have. If you
have your walls and your floor within the same range of colour then you will have absolutely nothing to
worry about. Balance is what you’re trying to achieve here, so if you have brown flooring, a cream wall
would suffice.

Windows

Windows let in natural light but you will need to cover them up from time to time. If you have a blind or
curtains on your windows, try and make them the same colour as the other items in your room. Hanging
curtains are great and if you let them fall all the way to the floor then this is a fantastic way for you to try
and create the illusion of height. With your curtains, it also helps to mount the rack to the ceiling instead
of to the wall.  This will again, make the room feel way bigger and it’s a great tip if you don’t have much
to work with.

Mirrors

And lastly, you can utilise mirrors. Mirrors take the sunlight that is entering the room and they help to bounce it around. If you want you can even have some floor mirrors if you don’t have much wall space, as this is a fantastic way for you to really bring the whole thing together. Of course, if you know that you want to try and step things up a notch then make sure that the casing to your mirror blends in with the room.
