Incorporating Sporting Events into Your Travels

When we book our vacations, the majority of us tend to have three main things on their mind:
sun, sea, and sand. This is understandable -  every now and then you do need a vacation that
entirely revolves around rest and recuperation. Something that gives you the opportunity to let
your hair down and relax. But it’s important to remember that there are plenty of alternative
vacations out there that might suit you a little better if you’re looking for something a little different.
Alternatively, there are alternative activities that you can slip into your trip for a change to the routine
while you’re away. This is where sports can come into play. There are all sorts of sporting events going
on around the globe that you’d never have the opportunity to witness at home. So why not travel to
engage with them or incorporate them into your holiday plan? Here are a few major sports events
that you might want to consider for your next trip!

The Australian Open

If tennis is your game of choice, you want to head to Melbourne in Australia for the Australian Open.
All of the games that comprise this tournament will inevitably showcase some high class players,
techniques, and overall matches. But if you’re looking for the biggest crowd with the highest coverage,
you should attend the Australian Open mens final. This takes place every January, but you want to
book your tickets well in advance, as they tend to sell out quickly closer to the date.

Tour de France

If cycling is your thing and you’re looking for a getaway in the immediate future, bear in mind that the
Tour de France is taking place right now and for the rest of the month. See some key cycling figures
striving for first place at the same time as enjoying the beautiful French summertime!

Surfing

Surfing will forever hold mass appeal. Catching waves in a wetsuit or bikini has a certain thrill to it.
But you don’t necessarily have to limit your experience of surfing during your getaways to having a
little paddle out on the board yourself. There are a whole host of surf competitions taking place
around the world throughout the year. Watching world class surfers perform from the comfort of a
beach lounger really is a great form of entertainment. But where should you head to see the cream
of the crop? Well, Hawaii is surf capital of the world. So, it’s not all too surprising that some of the
biggest and best surf competition take place here. Consider the O’Neill World Cup of Surfing, which
takes place on Sunset Beach. Alternatively, you might want to catch Quiksilver Big Wave International,
which is held at Waimea Bay, Oahu.

These are just a few different sporting events that you can incorporate into your next trip! So, take them
into consideration! They could prove extremely fun and more than worth the time and effort invested
into planning.
